Habonim Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Israel, preferred by campers, families and large groups.
The beach is located in a nature reserve and offers many facilities. The beach is considered one of the best and most beautiful beaches in Israel.
HaBonim beach is located near collective Moshav HaBonim and is easily accessible by car or taxi.
Here is a HaBonim beach video tour on Youtube you can check out.

HaBonim Beach is located near collective moshav HaBonim, on Israel shoreline, approximately 20 minutes by car, south to Haifa.
The beach is a part of the Dor HaBonim Nature Reserve.
Access to the beach is possible only from road number 4. Road number 2 has no interchange near HaBonim.
Close to Atlit beach, HaBonim beach is also 20 minutes drive from Haifa and 45 minutes drive from Tel Aviv.
HaBonim beach offers shade on the place, though only on the main beach.
There are wooden pergolas that can comfortably fit 4-6 people with their beach equipment in its area. There are only a few pergolas and they are rarely unoccupied.
In peak bathing season, the shade is taken fast by bathers so it is recommended to bring your shade with you.
Here is a great shading solution by Otentik, very simple to carry and install while on the beach. Check out prices on Amazon.
There are no chairs rental services. I recommend bringing chairs with you to the beach.
Generally speaking, offseason, most services are not available so if you plan to visit the beach during that time, you need to bring your own equipment.
HaBonim beach is an authorized beach. The southern part offers lifeguard services during the bathing season but the northern beach part has no lifeguard tower.
The beach area is sandy and between the north and south parts, there is a large rocky part. You can't walk barefooted on that part. You don't have to though. You can walk between beach parts on the sand. The rocky part is a nice addition. It provides a different access to the water.
The water is clean, the sand is clean, the beach is maintained and kept clean.
The sand strip is relatively wide and long with plenty of room. There is a nice laguna that children really enjoy. Ideal for families.
HaBonim Beach Laguna
The beach is welcoming for all ages and people.
The beach has little artificial light, near the bathroom area, so at night it is recommended to bring a light source with you.
HaBonim beach is an authorized beach. It offers most of the common services and facilities a typically authorized beach offers.
The beach has lifeguard services during the bathing season (only at the southern part of the beach), shade, and a place to buy food and drinks (mostly in bathing season, the place may also be permanently closed) - I recommend bringing your own food to the beach.
More services the beach provides:
- First-aid station.
- Showers and bathrooms.
- The beach is NOT fully accessible for the disabled. For example, you can't get a wheelchair closer to the water as far as I can tell. Try and get more info here.
- Dog owners - It is possible to bring your dog to the beach. It is mandatory by law to have it leashed and use a mouth guard. Try and get more info here.
** It is recommended to swim only in authorized areas and listen to the lifeguards' instructions.
HaBonim Beach - Main beach area
BBQ and fire camps are allowed on the beach. The beach provides barrels for that purpose.
Camping on the beach is allowed and even recommended.
There is not any restaurant on the beach. It is important to bring enough food with you.
Playing beach games are allowed in all areas of the beach, though it is more common in the northern part.
You can find a great skydiving club near the beach. You can find more information on the Paradive website.
It is recommended to visit the beach by car or taxi. I don't think there is public transportation to the beach. These things may change though.
There is designated parking for the disabled.
There is no Train station in the area. Buses may arrive close to the area, potentially to Moshav HaBonim and from there it is 30 minutes walk to the beach.
My personal recommendation is getting there by car or taxi. Also possible by bus with less equipment since the bus does not stop right at the beach, there is some walking involved.
If you are in the area and looking for a bus or train, you can try moovit to get bus lines since they may change from time to time.
Atlit beach and Dor Beach are really close. Also, Atlit detainee camp.
HaBonim Beach attracts many kinds of people.
You will see families, couples, groups, fishermen, Kayakers and more.
Many people camp on the beach. The beach is a very popular camping site.
Glass bottles, cups, and products are NOT allowed on the authorized beach area at all.
The beach is open 24/7, year-round. Services are available only in bathing season. I always recommend to check what is open or not and take into consideration that during off season, most services are more likely to be unavailable.
During bathing season, especially in its peak, the beach areas may be very crowded, even at night. It is recommended to arrive early to the beach and bring your own shade and chairs.
Parking can be an issue in peak season. Many people arrive at the beach by car.
